A Message from the Town Manager: January 2024

A Message from the Town Manager: January 2024

Happy New Year! After a mild and eventful holiday season, we welcomed 2024 with clear skies and mild temperatures. Here’s hoping this is a sign of good things to come in the year ahead. As I look around the office and see the team hard at work, I can’t help but feel confident that it is.

Farewell to a Joyous Holiday Season - Until Next Year!

Although we are eager to see what the new year brings, it was sad to see holiday events come to a close. Our Downtown Holiday Celebration event took place on Dec. 1st – Dec. 3rd and drew hundreds of residents and visitors for hot cocoa, carols, and the warm glow of lights on the Town Common. Our Holiday Parade was amazing with over 44 float entries. The Festival of Trees hosted by Plymouth State University was once again a hit over the weekend. thanks to all who made our town glow for this special event.

Proposed FY24 Budget nearing completion:

Discussions continue of the 24.25 proposed budget. The Selectboard will hold a final meeting on January 8, 2024 to finalize the 24.25 budget before going to the first Public Hearing on January 22, 2024 at 5:15pm at Town Hall. This is a challenging economic time, and we worked diligently to craft a budget proposal that meets the needs of our growing community by addressing the upward pressures caused by inflation and remaining fiscally responsible for taxpayers. The full proposed budget will be released soon on the Town website at www.plymouthnh.gov

We hope to see a strong voter turnout this Town Meeting Day:

Watch for communication regarding Town Meeting Day on Tuesday, March 13, including our annual broadcast of Town Meeting, leading up to election day and Town Meeting, more information can be found at www.plymouthnh.gov, including how to register to vote and how to request an early/absentee ballot. Until then, it’s business as usual in the Town Clerk's office with the new team in place, we welcome Aimee Lee as the Interim Town Clerk and Melinda Barnsley as our new Assistant Town Clerk. We were sad to bid farewell to Erin Orion last month. Erin did an excellent job as Interim Town Clerk and was a true asset as well as a pleasure to work with. We wish her the very best in her new endeavors.

Thank You to Our First Responders:

Our fire/rescue, police department and highway department remain busy as ever protecting and serving our community. As of late December, our fire/rescue and police department’s call volume shows a small increase compared to the same period last year. I am grateful to the staff and volunteers who serve our community each and every day.

As always, I hope this message finds you and yours well. Our team looks forward to seeing you in our offices and around town soon. I am always available at (603) 536-1731 X112 or townmanager@plymouthnh.gov .
