Highway Department Update - September 22nd
Administration:
- This week I worked with my Operations Manager and Mechanic to discuss our new fiscal budget concerns and requirements.
- I met with several Town residents with regards to driveway permits.
- I met with Granese Construction to discuss North Main Street.
- Continued with required paperwork with FEMA and our winter storm damage from December 2022.
- Reviewed several upcoming projects with Operations Manager with Hitchners Pit and road work projects.
Crew Duties:
- Cleaned up trees and branches from the strong winds that had occurred over the weekend.
- Installed 100-feet of new 15-inch drain pipe from Depot Street to the parking lot at the Community Center.
- Continuation of road sweeping and cold patching
- Hot top is discontinued due to the 2006 International truck being out of service, hot top services will resume as soon as the truck is repaired.
Maintenance:
- Maintenance of chainsaws, replace 2 chains that are worn to minimum
- Diagnose and ordered part for 2006 International oil leak
- Remove bad parts from 2006 International
- Perform state inspection on 2013 Ford F350
- Budget review
- Repaired edger for working on shouldering for road construction
- Organized seaport container at our pit (tires inventory) in preparation for winter
- Repaired Sweeper water fill port
- Replaced gutter brooms on Sweeper
- Tuned up the leaf vacuum for Fall clean-up
- Installed fire extinguisher on Volvo excavator
Building:
- Reiss Construction will be completing the framing for our new garage door replacement.
Training:
- Still in progress with UNH T2 Program: The department had employees who were not enrolled in T2 UNH, enroll with the program. This will allow the staff to attend classes, training and get certified in areas that need certification.
